Black5spdZ
Will the L67 bolt up to the 284 if i use like a flywheel out of a 3800 5spd f-body. I would love to put this in my Z34 but i want to keep it a 5spd, so if this douesn't work is it worh porting and polishing the upper and lower intakes? BadBuick
Not sure about the flywheel. But depending on what you do with L67 as far as mods, it will more than likely blow that Getrag apart.
99RegalGS
You need to use a F-Body 3800 flywheel and machine it to work with the FWD 5 speed. Go to http://www.L67swap.com there's more info over there.
Black5spdZ
does anyone know how much hp the tranny would hold safely, but the 284 will bolt up if i get the correct flywheel?
stockgp
i think the guys on l67swap.com said you could use the 284 as long as you drove it easy.
gp90se
the first time you goto shift it anywhere near redline, goodbye 5 speed. theres a fiero company that makes flywheels to do it and yes it will bolt on, but I dont see it holding up for long
Black5spdZ
does anyone make hardened tranny parts as if it isnt hard enough to find stock????

Black5spdZ
thats what i thought but now that i think about it the gearing might be to short the L67 redlines at 5500, does anyone know of a w-body with a 5sodl67? 99RegalGS
It's not so much the horsepower, it's the torque. The series 2 L67 has 65 more ft lbs, and if the person mods the engine it will be over 300 quickly. Combine that with a 3300 lb car and the tranny won't like it. Black5spdZ
thats true i didn't really think about that. I am going to talk to a good buddy of mine at a tranny place and see if he can strengthen or harden the gears and modify the synchros to handle that kind of power because i would like to be able to get on it and not have to worry about blowing chunks. brianteel
i am almost done with mine. I just need to get a 282 trans clutch and flywheel and the car will be good to go. My L67 redlines at 6500. easy to move the redline if you change the springs
