Crimson Fury Z
whats the best/easiest way to replace them? remove the dog bone and tilt? remove the weather stripping from the back? i want to replace the plug wires, too. how'd i go aboot doing that? i think this is the last question  how do i remove the wires from the plastic handle/case? i know at least 2 are broke, and knowing how too will allow me to get newer ones from the yard. thanks for the info! loominaz34
My dad and I removed the weather stripping and with enough extensions, we were able to get it done that way.
White93z34
i haven't changed mine yet but the easiest way i've found to change the rear plugs on a 3.4 is to remove the plenum (i said easiest, not most practical)

Crimson Fury Z
maybe i can rent-a-slick for this task! eer! i was afraid of plenum removal(gasket!)but that does seem logical. my next task is getting the rear black plastic piece of of the wires
slick
Ok, assuming you have a Z34, this is how you do it. 1) Take off the weatherstripping at the back of the engine bay, right above where the plugs are at. This will give you a little bit more room to get the plug wires and boots out. 2) Get a pair of metal cutters, and cut out slots so you can get the extensions in at a much better angle. 3) Pull the plug boots and wires out. 4) Get atleast a 6" and a 3" extension along with your spark plug socket. Another 6" extension does help a ton, but the 6 and 3 should work. 5) Go at it.

5speedz34
All I did was remove the weatherstripping and do it with some extensions and you should be fine. As for the caps on the plug wires their all attached when you buy new wires they come with those.
Crimson Fury Z
i got the rapid fires and got premium wires from napa, hell if i'm paying $130 for dealer set. i think the dealer parts guy was thinking the same and as for slicks other rent a tasks  ..........................................................................................................................NO!! Canada
Pull the upper intake if you own a 3.4L DOHC. I can get it off in 10 minutes. Odds are the gasket is leaking anyways.......or rear cam cover.
Crimson Fury Z
nah, the plenum-intake gaskets are good. replaced when the exhaust cams got retarded. i think the weather strip option sounds good! now torqing/torquing the plugs in; anyone use a tq wrench or just tightened till it stopped? Robby1870
Tq spec on most plugs, Ive seen, is like 10-12 ft-lbs. Thats nothing. Ive got to where I can sense that much Tq and just tighten til I think its tight enough
OldsmoBeast
you might want to be careful torquing your plugs, because you don't want to strip the threads in there...
