omegaprofit
I was recently given a 1990 Lumina Euro 3.1 that has sat for the past 5 or so years. So far I've changed the battery, oil, filter, plugs, air filter, upper intake gaskets, and pcv valve and hose. The car starts right up and idles decently, but when it first starts and when I really get on the gas it makes a cloud of smoke since it is running so rich. What could cause this? O2 sensor or coolant temp sensor? Or maybe the IAT sensor? I kinda don't want to spend the money replacing everty sensor until it fixes the problem. Thanks for your help. gp90se
I would start with a delco 02 sensor (not a bosch) and toss a bottle of fuel injector cleaner into it, see what that does. It could be the injectors, the fuel pressure regulator, i dont think the IAT controls fuel/air until the engine is warm, so it wouldnt do it while cold. good luck and keep us updated
