GnatGoSplat Posted September 13, 2004 Report Posted September 13, 2004 Does the wheel well splash guard (the plastic behind the front wheels) have a raised area on all first-gen W-bodies? I know my 89, 90, and 94 has it. I swear I thought the splash guard was flat on some newer Cutlasses I'd seen. This was probably 8yrs ago that I remembered seeing it on a 96, so maybe I imagined it. Just wondering because the outside edge of my tires rubs on the raised part of the plastic splash guard when I turn. Some flat ones would take care of it. Quote
mihela816 Posted September 13, 2004 Report Posted September 13, 2004 Mine did the same thing until I aligned the subframe. Quote
runt Posted September 13, 2004 Report Posted September 13, 2004 Shawn, On my 96 in my sig, it does have the raised part in the wheel well. Not quite sure why that would exist, but it's there on mine. Quote
GnatGoSplat Posted September 13, 2004 Author Report Posted September 13, 2004 Thanks, I guess I must have imagined it not being there. I'm pretty sure the subframe is aligned correctly. It's rubbing because my tires are 20mm wider than stock, but the diameter is still the same. I was planning to take a heat gun to the splash guard and push it back as far as it would go which should eliminate the rubbing, but I noticed the tire has almost completely worn through the plastic. No hole yet, but the plastic is real thin on that raised section. Quote
