Grand Moff Joseph Posted September 10, 2004 Report Posted September 10, 2004 For those of us who are new members and/or do not know a whole lot about their cars, can someone provide a quick listing of what the 1,000 acronyms out there about our cars mean? For example, what do these mean: DIC, DIS, the OTHER DIS, ICM, ECM, PCM, OBDI, OBDII, IAT, WAI, CAI, TPS, MAP, MAF Thanx! Quote

For example, what do these mean: DIC, DIS, the OTHER DIS, ICM, ECM, PCM, OBDI, OBDII, IAT, WAI, CAI, TPS, MAP, MAF Thanx! DIC- Display information center DIS-display information system ICM- ignition control module ECM- electronic control module PCM- hell if i can remember OBD1- on board diagnostics version 1 OBD2- " " 2 IAT- idle air temperature sensor WAI- warm air intake CAI- cold air intake TPS- throttle position sensor MAP- manifold absolute pressure MAF- mass air flow Quote
TeeJay3800 Posted September 10, 2004 Report Posted September 10, 2004 DIC = Driver Information Center (GP) DIS = Driver Information System (CS) DIS = Direct Ignition System ECM = Electronic Control Module PCM = Powertrain Control Module OBDI = On-board diagnostics IAT = Intake Air Temperature CAI = Cold Air Intake or Cowl Intake MAP = Manifold Absolute Pressue MAF = Mass Airflow TPS = Throttle Position Sensor That's all I can think of off the top of my head. EDIT: You beat me to it! DIC- Display information centerDIS-display information system DRIVER, not display Quote
