Why is it so damn small? I got one at NAPA (and then double checked at Canadian Tire.. same size) the one on my 2.8 is much longer! Actually, the one that is currectly on the car is fairly long.

I did the same thing when I went to change the oil. If you get one for your 2.8 it'll be the same way. They changed them, I think. I went and checked at all the stores, and the part number changed from my old filter. I was initially pissed because I thought I'd grabbed the wrong filter.

a PF 52 also is the filter for the 3.1

it is a replacement for the PF 51

I thought stock was pf 47.

not for the 3.1 Multiport. the owners manual say PF 51, which isn't made anymore. it's replacement is the PF 52

All the 3100's take the small filter...kinda wierd that its so small but its the same one that the 3800's have used forever.

Use a '95 Chevrolet Blazer 4.3 filter if you want the longer one.

Depends on what year 4.3 it is...the ones that were installed in RWD passenger cars in the 80's took the same filter as a 350 which would not work on a 3100. I'm just clearing that up lol

Almost every FWD GM I've owned has used the PF47 (Fram PH3387A, Purolator 10111.) That includes 3 Iron Dukes, a Chev 2.2 OHV, 2 3100's, and 2 3800's. The Chev 2.0 in my old 88 Cadavalier was different, though (can't remember the size...)

It DOES look like its probably the same size as the filter as on the Sunfire.. I have BOTH and will check that out later. That would be cool because I have an extra Sunfire filter lying around and we usually take it in for oil changes (hey, its not my car right? )
