THe_DeTAiL3R
Tomorrow I want to flush the rad and put in some regular green Prestone A/F in. Its already got the green stuff (I don't know if it ever had Dexcool). Anyways I was gonna use this product first: 10 Minute Flush Used as a fast-acting radiator flush to remove scale, scum and rust from cooling systems when changing coolant or as a periodic cleaner. Does not require a neutralizer. Contains no acids. Cleans scum, rust and scale deposits from cooling system in ten minutes. And then this stuff with the coolant (Thinking it could help in preventing gasket leaks and other problems in the future?) Anti-Rust & Water Pump Lube A water soluble oil lubricant with corrosion inhibitors compounded to lubricate and protect metals in automotive cooling systems. Penetrates all working parts of the water pump. Constant lubrication prevents seals from deterioration. Keeps entire cooling system cleaner and free from dirt. Reduces foaming which increases heat transfer and inhibits What do you guys think of these products?.....
DOHCRagtopguy
Having done performance analysis on those products as part of an overall study of products of this nature I can tell you that they are no better or worse than other typical products of that type. However, the water pump lubricant with the other corrosion package may be a bit of overkill after new A/F is put in because the manufacturer of the A/F already has their corrosion inhibitors in the new A/F. Regular Prestone A/F will work just fine.

Care to explain more? I trust your word on this since you seem to know what you are talking about.. it would be overkill in what way? The stuff is only $2.50 so it wouldn't be hurting my wallet.. midnight rider
I say go for it. Or. if compatibility is an issue, use the preston stuff. It never hurts to do what I like to call preventive maintance.
DOHCRagtopguy
Prestone and other A/F manufacturers add corrosion inhibitors to the product when they make it. When you put the other coolant additives in brand new A/F, it's like you are doubling the amount, that's what I mean by overkill. Don't get me wrong, you can't overtreat it, but essentially you are wasting your money adding more of something that is already there in an amount sufficient to do the job.
