Goph Posted August 25, 2004 Report Posted August 25, 2004 When I'm going down the road and i have my cruise on the rpm's keep changing from like just under 2k to just above 2500 and then it go back down. It fells like it is shifting out of overdrive and then back in. My dad is thinking that it my a be a censer but he don't know what one it is. I kind of does it some times when i don't have the cruise on if i hold my foot on the gas steady so I'm sure it is not my cruise control going out. anyone know what it might be? Quote
95DropTop Posted August 26, 2004 Report Posted August 26, 2004 Sounds like the lock up torque converter locking/unlocking. You should notice after the tranny shifts into 4th gear, if you are not under acceleration, the rpm's will drop a few hundred as the converter locks up. If I accelerate too much, as in going up a fairly steep hill, the converter will unlock and the rmp's go up slightly. Quote
DaveFromColorado Posted August 26, 2004 Report Posted August 26, 2004 sometimes the change can be caused by a warn converter itself, or it can be a bad solonoid - but it certinally sounds like a converter lockup problem. --DaveFromColorado. Quote

midnight rider Posted August 26, 2004 Report Posted August 26, 2004 Unplug the four pin square conector on the front side of the trany. Drive the car and see if the problem persists. If it doesn't you've found your issue, the lock up convertor or its soliniod. If it still does it, start pricing a rebuild. Quote
