vegaslumina
today as i was driving home from work, i noticed that when i turned the steering wheel left or right it made a whining sound. So when i get home i look under the car and there is a big pudddle, but its not oil and its not tranny fluid, so i'm assuming its power steering fluid since i checked the level and its bone dry. Now what are some things that could have gone wrong? Has anyone had a problem like this before? Whats your opinions about what could have happened here? Thanks

runt
Either the pump or one of the lines. That's the same thing that happened to my friend '91 cutty.

Crimson Fury Z
mine did that, it was the power sterring line that ran behind the engine, i think it was at the pump
Euro
heck might as well replace both the lines and the pump while your at it.
midnight rider
put some fluid in it, open the hood, start the engine and watch for a leak. It is either a line, the rack or the pump like everyone else has stated. To ensure it works good, after repairing the leak, use Lucas Power Steering treatmant in it. It will make it turn as smooth as silk.
