93CutlassSupreme
93 3.1 friday night, i got some gas, 89 octane Mobil. drove to my buddy's house, which is right down the street. park the car for the night sat morning, i go to merge on I-275, which is again, right down the street, and the engine misses, bucks and shakes in each gear, and backfires under acceleration. i'm hoping it's bad gas because it happened right after i filled up. i put in some dry gas and some fuel system cleaner, but nothing has happened so far. if this doesn't go away as the gas burns off, obviously i'm going to have to go to the next step. don't think it's the plugs, wires, or O2 sensor, as i changed them out with AC Delco parts 3 or 4K ago. maybe a bad injector? the car smells like something's burning, and my exhaust tips are jet black, never seen them that dark. checked for codes, only got a 12, we all know what that means. any ideas? Coilpacks and ICM. Have them tested and if they're bad go to a junkyard, I got mine cheap and it worked like a charm.
93CutlassSupreme
car's running better today, not 100% but it isn't shaking and bucking nearly as much was down to half a tank, i topped it off with some premium from a different gas station. if it keeps on improving i figure it was just bad gas
94CutlassSLCoupe
Probably was some bad gas...but why are you using anything but plain 'ol 87 in a 3.1 anyway...it doesn't need anything better
93CutlassSupreme
i know that, but if i do have bad gas, i'm gonna want to get good gas in as soon as i can. i figure higher octane gas will bring up the old shit quicker than regular
Euro
mine when i start it up every once in a while it will start funny and start to shake when i give it gas. A bad injector is the problem that i had with the shaking. But i dont know, now i think its the bad fuel filter and its not filtering the fuel and crap is getting into the injectors and clogging one of them.
