I'll be getting my new (to me) Cutlass Supreme Convertible next week and aside from the 3.1 intake manifold gaskets, the most work will be on the top. It seems that a new top had been done in the last couple of years but is not operational. What fun! I'll know more when it's delivered. 130K miles, may have had the gaskets replaced already, we'll see.

    Hm-284 oil leak

Why are you repeatedly resurrecting these near 17 year old threads from the old original site? You won't get a reply & any links are long dead. If you've got an issue begin a new thread on the matter.

    Will not start/top questions

Just in case someone is following this thread and needs the resolution... The vats bypass did not work. I ended up having the vehicle towed from the mechanic to another shop. I had the starter replaced and the spark plugs which the gentleman (wont utilize mechanic anymore) were crossed. Vehicle runs smoothly now.

    PCV system Breather hose issues

Hi everyone, I have a 95 grandprix sedan as my daily driver/beater, and it has the 3100v6. When changing the thermostat, I broke the Breather hose that goes from the Intake Tubing after the MAF and plugs into the rear valve cover. I got one at a junkyard out of a 97 century. But the issue I am having is with the part that plugs into the rear valve cover, no matter how hard I push it into the valve cover, it doesn't click in or anything, it just sits in there loose.. I put some RTV on it to stop it from coming loose, but what is the permanent fix to this issue, is there some sort of grommet that sits in the valve cover? I am confused on what secures it in place.

On the 3.1L there’s a rubber grommet on the valve cover to seat the tube.

  6. This is an extremely tight fit. Can’t get it out. Now I know why people hate working on these cars

    Hm-284 oil leak

Is there any reason you can't just walk into a parts store and ask for a right axle seal for say a '92 GTP with a 5 speed? All 284 seals are the same I assume, it shouldn't be a huge issue. The leak on the inside of the bellhousing could be the input shaft seal, which will require you to remove the trans again. It is a trans fluid leak and not engine oil, correct?

I'm not sure what you're asking but the 282 and the 284 seals are completely different.
