3.1 Timing chain cover gasket replacement

I should update this topic for anyone in the future that also has to do this job. I didn't have to take the oil pan off, but if you do this you have to be really careful about getting debris in it. I ran about 10 quarts of clean oil through the pan to make sure I flushed everything out.

Have a 4T65E Question?? Triple Edge Performance Contact Info!

Hope I'm not overstepping here but a maintenance guy at work had this same issue. It ended up being something in his floor shifter, not the transmission itself. He had to tear apart his floor console and fixed the issue. I can't remember what exactly but the point of me saying this...it might be the shifter and not something mechanical within the tranny. He has this gen of Impala. I'm assuming yours is the same.

Any tuners remotely near NW Florida?

You might try to get a hold of Ryan Gick (Sinister Performance), he's in Monticello, Indiana. He's been the *go-to* GM tuner for many years. He's well known in the GM performance tuner crowd, has an excellent reputation for his work. He's burned 3 OBD1 chips for cars in my family, OBDII is even easier to do. Let him know what you're doing, he can do the tune for you.

Any tuners remotely near NW Florida?

I have zero desire to work with someone who's incompetent or dishonest enough to claim that they can't do the job because the equipment they use doesn't support it, when I know it does. So the shops here, and it was literally every one of them, are either incompetent or liars, and wouldn't even look into the program to see if it's supported, so I refuse to let them make money off of me, or touch my car. I don't do the facebooks, I will look up their forum. Where are you located Pwmin?

What's involved with replacing rear hub/bearings?

Rear hubs are SIMPLE, they come off and go back on exactly like you think they would. 2nd on the service manual, its got all the info for torque specs and exploded diagrams.

What's involved with replacing rear hub/bearings?

I've changed all four hubs on my 95 Cutlass. The rear is easier of course because of no axle to mess with. The first hub I replaced, I had a little difficulty separating it once the bolts were removed, it had been in place for decades and was a little rusty. I was too gentle, as I don't like to hit my own car too hard. PB Blaster overnight and tapping didn't loosen it. Eventually frustration set in and I got out the sledgehammer and it came apart quickly. (Also, this is not the only time in my life I've said "eventually frustration set in and I got out the sledgehammer and it came apart quickly")
