    Adding Rear Center Console

Hey everyone! Has anyone had success adding the rear center console to a first gen W-Body? I converted the rear bench seat to bucket seats in two Ws and I have the rear consoles. I just don't really have any ideas on mounting them to the floor. The cars originally equipped with the rear console had threaded studs welded to the floor. Has anyone come up with an alternative means of mounting the console? Thanks in advance. PS I've been away for a bit, I don't post that much, but I am still very thankful that this site exists and there are so many other fans of these cars out there.

Hello all. I bought a 2002 GP GT coupe today. I bought it as a commuter car for my girlfriend. Nice little car, needs some work. I'm hoping there are some GP gurus around here who wouldn't mind sending some info my way. I think I may be spending some time at pick and pull. Cheers

Hello to all, Very excited to have found this group ! There is A LOT of great stuff in here. I live in Canada and am the proud owner of a 1994 Oldsmobile cutlass convertible, with the LQ1 3.4 DOHC Engine. My screen name reflects the color of the car which is in the Quasar Blue. My youngest daughter calls it the 'smurf' for that reason. It has since been disabled due to a water inlet housing cracking in half, and I have had ZERO luck finding this part. I have inquired at several salvage yards in Canada, as far out as BC and as well in the US as far South as Florida. I am exploring the option of attempting to have that part 'welded' but am unsure of how it will hold up. The car was bought used locally and since my ownership of the vehicle, the transmission has been replaced, the timing belt twice and oil pump driveshaft was giving me quite a drip. With that all fixed, It now sits on blocks waiting for me to find a solution to this part. I do hope that someone can assist in some way as my hunt looks bleak. GM discontinued the part not too long ago and cost about 15 dollars new at that time. I do enjoy GM vehicles. My very first car was a 1988 Chevrolet Baretta ! THAT, was fun little ride. Again, Hello to all and looking forward to hearing from you ! Rueben

    Adding Rear Center Console

My car has had rear console for 15 yrs or so, and never had an issue with the JB Weld. It doesn't really get used a ton but I don't think you'll have any issues with this!!

I like the JB Weld idea. I was thinking something along those lines, but I was hoping other people would have some ideas that actually worked. Thanks! PS Yeah I figured drilling, etc. around the fuel tank wasn't such a "hot" idea.

    Adding Rear Center Console

I came here to say EXACTLY this. When I first added a rear console to my Cutlass I decided to drill the floor. Yah I was pretty pissed off about that when I hit the gas tank!!!! I ended up using JB Weld to get the brackets to the floor. IIRC I bolted the console to the brackets, applied a little JB weld to the middle of the brackets and got it into position, and let it sit there in place until the JB weld dried. I then removed the bolts and applied more JB weld to the brackets at the seam to ensure they wouldn't break loose.

    Spare and larger rotors

Evidence: Nine dead in Texas, because a spare tire that some moron mounted on the FRONT blew out. https://nypost.com/2022/03/17/ntsb-child-was-driving-pickup-that-struck-van-killing-9/?utm_campaign=nypdaily&utm_source=sailthru&utm_medium=email&utm_content=20220318&lctg=607d91b1373dd11b6ec2ef72&utm_term=NYP - Morning Report Naturally, the media is focusing on the WRONG thing. They're making a big deal over the age of the driver instead of the faulty spare that blew out causing the loss of control. The tire was a bigger cause than the driver. (The underage, inexperienced driver had adequate control of the vehicle UNTIL the tire popped.) Being that this was a spare on a pickup, it may have been a full-size tire. Point being, it wasn't taken care of, the spare was in-use for too many miles, and the kid didn't have enough experience at the wheel to control a vehicle with a flat. But that could have been just as true for his dad. Plenty of adults/experienced drivers lost control of Ford Exploders when the defective-junk Firestoned tires popped. The shitty tire belongs on the rear. The LAST place you want a shitty tire is Left Front--so when it pops, the drag from the blown tire puts you into the lane of oncoming traffic. At least with the shitty tire on the right-front, you're more likely to hit the ditch and only kill people in your own vehicle.

Whatever you do, DO NOT drill or weld on the floor the fuel tank is directly under that area.
